Ruling: Technical failiure. Reasoning: Session did not meet time minimum requirement.
Looking past the technical red card being thrown here, the session was enjoyable. That being said, it could've been more enjoyable if the challenges were up to par. A lot of GMs worry that puzzle encounters take too long and bog down a session into a full stop, here the puzzle encounters were just right, but the lethal encounters were not up to snuff. In the future, please make your enemies smarter, tougher, and more decisive. If the other encounters had been more challenging then perhaps the session would meet the time requirements.

Enjoyed the game, puzzle was a good change of pace. enemies where too easy, single targets often are lacking challenge unless the CR is quite a bit above the party. the traps needed more punishment, damage or ability damage or something that makes them worth avoiding.
that being said too short, did not meet minimum requirements so I cannot pass this for that reason alone.
The good - fun - puzzles, traps, etc (more than just combat)
The bad - timing - difficulty (too easy, especially combat) - the FIAT poison - nearly universal that fort negates poisons with a high enough roll.
It would have been a pass if it was longer, one more combat or more difficult combat would have done it.

Enjoyed the game, fun concept. Suggestion were given to increase the challenge as it was overall in the players favor. biggest criticism was the table stats being heavy on gold and light on XP. I do not believe that combats are too easy at level 1, I am of the belief they're either too easy or too hard at level 1 so I do not penalize his combat for being rolled over by color spray.
I and the players did enjoy the game and hope to see the same concept more refined for more fun games.

I give him a pass on his latest DM test what with the pirates. Fun encounters, though I would have skipped the puzzles, as they were frustrating and nonsensical without transparency.

Overall he gets a pass on bladeandbow.boards.net/thread/3496/pirates-treasure since sharp didn't link it. He made changes to the encounters based on part performance, he had interesting environmental effects in the last room, although other encounters could have benefited from some as well. Had a solid grasp on all the basic rules and was able to keep the party on track and the session moving fairly well.

DM Test results: bladeandbow.boards.net/thread/3496/pirates-treasureIn combat situations: Combat was interesting, and the enemies were smart enough not to run straight into a thresher. Updated enemies based on previous encounters so they didn't get smashed instantly. In social situations: The NPC quest giver was a bit railroady, but everyone was down so it wasn't that much of an issue. The enemies didn't seem to care about parley, though that's to be expected. In GM/Player interactions: Kept control of the game and didn't leave anyone hanging. Gave everyone time to shine. Overall: Pass
