Debut of the Armaged-Dome: When the Sorcerer shoots better than the Fighter.
The Dweomer-Dome, which was recently sold, acquired and refurbished as the Armaged-Dome in order to boost ticket sales as the crowd demanded more carnage and spectacle. And boy, did the new owner deliver that with Armaged-Dome's debut "Fight Night".
The tactical, full plate rockin', all human, male team of Fighters who call themselves the, "Martial Masters" debuted their mad skills against a colorful and diverse group of amateur adventurers:
Nyanta (Rechet)
Ramirez (Monstantin)
N'kalah (Npc121)
Pavu (DaemonSpecter)
Greggarome (Krellak)
Isa (Kristal)
Over on the, "Martial Masters" side, we saw the debut of a testosterone and seemingly "manly" group of equally diverse individuals:
Arasmes (Archer)
Barid (Two-Handed Fighter)
Bahram (Armor Master)
Baolo (Polearm Master)
The rules of the arena, allowed both teams a single round's worth of time to prepare themselves. The arena master had to call upon the help of their resident Alchemist to clone Baolo and Bahram in order to compensate for the slightly larger number of opponents that the were facing due to the poor planning. And over on the other side, the most visually noticable preparation was Ramirez growing a size larger in order to take the best advantage of his reach weapon.
As the fight kicked off, the combatants took to the arena, but were slowed down and weary of the water pits that were certainly an obstacle to consider and not take lightly and whose exits were also serving as very good choke points for both sides. Arasmes however, as an archer, quickly brought Pavu to the brink of death with one well placed arrow.
The fight was slow going at first, mostly Ramirez keeping his rivals at bay with his immense reach. Greggarome tried to flirt with Baolo and to Greg's shock and confusion found out that Barid, the most imposing looking of the, "Martials", was actually very gay for him, who would've known, right?
The turning point came, when Isa cast Entangle and shut down most of the, "Martials" as well as lowered their solid defenses. After that, it was just a game of plinking and poking away at the "enemy" until they all fell one by one, with everyone pitching in. Arasmes, harried and annoyed by Fee, Isa's bird that constantly kept following him and repeatedly pecking him after he got entagled, more or less couldn't shoot anyone anymore and got outshot by Greggarome who was a Sorcerer. Oh the embarassment and humiliation. Nyanta also got his moments of awesomeness in, parrying and riposting attacks like the well manered and learned Swashbuckler that he is, charging headfirst at Baolo and helped taking him down in an insane spectacle of parry and rispote combinations, mid charge.
After the rag tag bunch of adventurers finished dealing with the, "Martials", the Area Master convinced them to go for round two and literally turned the heat up, turning the water pits into lava pits. He also let loose, two very dangerous combatants onto the field of battle: Prabur, the Orc Armor Master and Gogmurch, the Goblin Archer. Both of them put up a very good fight, with Prabur, being nigh invincible and unhittable in his Full Plate and Tower Shield combination and Gogmurch, sharpshooting Greggarome out of the arena and straight into the hands of the dedicated healers that were on hand to stabilize his dying Gnoll body.
The tide of the battle turned again, thanks to Isa who, in a stroke of brilliance, summoned a Stirge to suck the life out of Prabur, taking away his most valuble asset, his very fettle that he relied on to keep him alive even in the face of certain death while breaking through his impenetrable defense with her Gandasa. Ramirez also helped and landed the killing blow, as he kept tripping and slowing down Prabur's relentless march. Over on the other side of the arena, Nyanta and Pavu worked together to subdue and take out Gogmurch using a combination of trips and grapple, they eventually succeeded, but not before Goggy took down Nyanta with a well timed strike from his Falchion while he was down, but not before Nyanta had already parried and riposted his previous attacks from being prone on the ground, now that's impressive.
In the end, this band of misfits braved it all and earned themselves a hefty amount of gold and more importantly, respect from all of their rivals (even Arasmes, begrudgingly while Barid returned a lot more than just respect to Greg if ya know what I mean...*Wink*). Both sides earned valuable life and combat lessons that I'm sure, they will take note of and learn from in the future.
