The Players: Vlad (Lavastorm), Lilah (Purrincess), Basil (Ianril), Ecclesiastes(Nuramon)

The adventurers were contacted by Temperence Breed, a noblewoman of questionable birth to solve a problem with the lumber village contracted to supply an order of timber to shore up Heartholm's defenses for a coming orc warband attack. The adventurers arrive at the village to discover all the children have been kidnapped and something has caused the lumberjacks to abandon their camp. Assisted by the helpful, soon to turn evil and furry teen Ava they find that a group of werewolves kidnapped the children and took them past the Veil of Thorns. The Players found allies in the trees of the forest...literally and were given passage through the Veil to combat some foul evil in a temple sealed off from the world! Who knows what will happen next!

GM Review: Overall positive. A pass, but just barely. Friendbot was very unfamiliar with roll20, it was clear that he didn't take much time to familiarize himself with it, do the tutorial, or make a welcome screen before launching into the game. Many of his tokens were ones provided from roll20, which in of itself was not bad, but he did not have tokens for some of his NPCs. The maps were premade and the scale was off on one of them. He also used alt as his push to talk button which made his tokens not snap to the grid, which was confusing at times. He also didn't have many maps or visual aids for his storytelling; the first 30-45 minutes was all "theater of the mind," which I myself am okay with but I know some people don't like.

HOWEVER, those are mostly a bunch of minor things in my opinion (except the lack of familiarity with roll20, that was a big one). That being said, I HIGHLY enjoyed the story. He had good characters, good accents and character differentiation, and amazing roleplaying. The encounters were fun and when he didn't have maps or visuals, his descriptions clearly painted pictures in my mind. There was a nice twist at the end where the girl who was leading us through the forest turned into a werewolf, which I thought was clever.

All in all, this was a solid, fun game made weaker by lack of familiarity with roll20. In the future I'd like to see more maps (maybe some custom ones too) or just general visual aids, tokens for the NPCs, making sure the tokens snap to the grid, and most of all more familiarity with roll20.
