Guiding Paw walks onto the construction site, approximately fifteen miles east of the Spire of Lemriss. As Nina raced around, sniffing all the smells that she could, he looked upon the two built buildings: the Arboreal Sanctum to his right, and the Mystic Greenhouse to his left.
The Arboreal Sanctum wasn't much more than a shack suspended atop massive tree trunks. While simple in appearance, there were drawers within which held incense to burn and cushions on which to meditate. Merely a calm room in which to relax, but it did its job. The Mystic Greenhouse was clearly the more elaborate of the two, with divine runes inscribed on the light green-tinged plates of glass funneling light and warmth into the soil within. He smiled as he entered the humid chamber, checking on the leshy he had just recently planted. Well, it wasn't a leshy yet, but hopefully it would grow to one day help maintain the grounds around him.
After watering the little would-be plant people, Guiding Paw left the house again, closing the door and locking it. He made his way over to the Sanctum, climbing the rope ladder that was present and pulling it up behind himself so no others would enter. He lit a stick of incense, sat on the floor, and crossed his legs, closing his eyes and imagining what the Grove would one day look like.
He envisioned the limits of the property, the lands he possessed under the name of a stronghold. It might not be what the Knighthood had imagined, but it would be a stronghold of sorts. One dedicated to the protection of Ar'vahl's natural resources rather than its property & its citizens. It was a noble cause, though not one that many nobles saw. All in all, the property was a little over 9,000 square feet. A modest amount, but all he needed.
He thought of the buildings that were in progress, like the Grotto to the north. Weeks ago it had been little more than a rocky protrusion from the ground. Now it had been hollowed out, a door hinge in the front, with ventilation, a water well, and would be livable as soon as the furniture was moved in. Eventually it would have a fully functional kitchen within as well, but that wouldn't be for a while. On the far northeast and southeastern ends of the property were partially fenced off areas that would later be habitats for animals and magical beasts alike. One for carnivores and the other for herbivores, to keep the creatures at peace with each other. Eventually the earth would be made soft, tall poles will be placed and netting installed so that avian creatures would always be accounted for. To the east was another shack which would soon be lifted above the ground by magically-grown trees, just like the building Guiding Paw presently found himself within. It would be a room of worship for those of the Green Faith, with a small altar for each Order and a big one for the religion as a whole at the rear. Finally, in the center of the property were beds of flowers & shrubs which had been treated with magical fertilizer. This would later become an Attuned Courtyard that those with magical capabilities could practice plant magic in as well as relax, as soon as the plants were fully grown, that is.
Now he pictured the buildings that had not yet been started. A garden between the grotto and the habitat, growing fruits and vegetables to sustain the residents of the Grove. A sauna to the southwest to cleanse one's energies. Lavatories to the south so residents wouldn't have to wander into the surrounding forest, dig a hole, and take care of business in an uncomfortable environment. And surrounding it all, ten-foot-tall walls of stone, with rain gutters that would funnel water into the Grotto, Sauna, and Habitats for drinking and other uses, and a large gate to the west that would be the only way into and out of the Grove. Yes, it would all come together so nicely. In fact, Guiding Paw truly thought that his vision was beautiful.
Taking one last breath of the lavender incense, Guiding Paw stood from his cushion and unrolled the rope ladder, calling for Nina as he returned to the earth beneath. The fire pelt bounded over excitedly from the far reaches of the property, but as she drew near, Guiding Paw detected a little disappointment in her eyes.
"Are we leaving already?" she asked her friend.
"Yes, but do not worry. We will be back soon. I'm excited to show Lokurem the progress I've made on the land. In fact, next time we come, I think we'll be ready to move in," Guiding Paw responded. At that, Nina happily bounded around the property again while Guiding Paw whistled for his stallion, Akyalis.
Finally, his dream of founding De'emitig was coming true.
