Argent Levelled Up!!! Following his adventure, Argent realised nascent arcane abilities while studying up on spells and the casting thereof. In studying his newly discovered innate abilities, he has learned that he is a sorcerer - a being with magic infused in his veins. To be specific, his is the blood of a Sage; unlike a vast majority of such spellcasters, whose spells are fuelled by their force of personality, he uses his intellect to understand and master his arcane powers. Following this discovery, he has found that learning knowledge of the arcane and of the casting of spells comes quite naturally to him. In other news, his trusted starter Righty had been growing as of late. Now, Righty isn't exactly a small bull, and the growth in and of itself wasn't particularly noticeable, so Argent's paid it no mind, but the bull's seemed to have hit a growth spurt! He's a little slower now, but a lot stronger, a lot hardier, and he seems capable of some cool new moves - must have been practicing them for a while! That explains all those messed up haystacks... The Bull of Vagresh doesn't quite fit into his trusty Chain Shirt any more, so Argent's had to have it adjusted to accommodate him. Argent's recently had the feeling of being watched during his arcane study. One afternoon he decided he'd had enough of it, and scoured the place, looking for his watcher. In a few moments, he'd found it - a small white ermine hidden behind one of his books. The stoat bothered him until he rose to the bait and chased after it, the whole ordeal made worse somehow by the fact that he knew it was enjoying itself. Once he caught it, though, he couldn't stay mad at it. He felt a bond with the ermine, but somehow it was different from the bond he felt with his companions; it was connected to the new, arcane side of him. This, he knew, was a familiar, a magical beast that would aid him in his study of magic. Gained DONGER, an ermine familiar, at level 4. She's quite a handful - hence the name - but she's actually very helpful! She's also pretty damn sharp, even for a familiar. (Valet archetype; Eye for Talent - Int +2) (basically taking the bloodline familiar option.) Argent decides he wants a magical study of his own. To this end, he spends a day of downtime earning (Take 10+10 Spellcraft = 20/10 =) 2 points of Magic capital for 100 gp, another earning (Take 10+10 Survival = 20/10 =) 2 points of Labour capital for 20 gp, and another earning a point of Magic capital for 50 gp (total spent: 170 gp and 3 downtime days). He then buys 6 points of Labour for 120 gp, 3 points Influence for 90 gp, and 9 points of Goods for 180 gp. After a good day of searching, he manages to find a magical repository on sale, and purchases it with his capital. He now owns a Magical Repository in which to study! Total spent: 170+180+90+120 = 560 gp worth of capital (earned and purchased), and 4 downtime days. They succesfully defend the outpost against the raiders, and held out until the guards arrived to resume their post. Akunet get's: 650xp, 900gp Everyone else get's 2500xp, 2500gp Bringing totals up to 12,331 xp, 7,000 gp, and 20 downtime days. Argent uses his scroll of gentle repose on Lefty's corpse. Upon returning to DweomerStar, Argent immediately raises Lefty for 1,450 gp, and after a teary reunion and some rest, has her Con drain healed with a restoration for 380 gp (total spent: 1,830 gp; total remaining: 5,170 gp 3 sp 5 cp.) Argent has been reading up on it for a while, and so has decided to try his hand at crafting wondrous items. He decides to start with something relatively simple: a headband of mental prowess, enhancing wisdom and intelligence. He spends 5,000 gp on the raw materials required to create the headband (leaving 20 gp 3 sp 5 cp). He cannot cast fox's cunning and cannot afford to buy scrolls or hire another caster to aid him, so it's going to be more difficult than it could be, but with the resources available to him and Donger's help he's feeling confident that he can pull it off. So confident, in fact, that he decides to try a rush job; with his ermine's assistance, he can produce it in five days (10,000/2,000 = 5), but if he doubles up on production, he can cut it down to about 3 (10,000/4,000 = 2.5; round up to 3). They encountered many traps and pitfalls, fought ancient creatures, were aged, diseased, and cursed, before treading quicksand, and stole the magical artifact. They were able to escape the pyramid before it succumbed to the sands from which it now lay; a tomb entombed. Staryx, Amakar, Om, Argent, and Intempas each received 5780 exp / 6500 gp / 5 Days of Downtime Bringing totals to 18,111 xp, 6,510 gp 3 sp 5 cp, and 21 downtime days. Argent's Magical Repository generates (Take 10 + 14 Spellcraft + 12 Repository bonus = 36/10 =) 3 points of Magic capital for 150 gp (bringing totals to 6,360 gp 3 sp 5 cp and 6 Magic capital).
