Going to use Renzik's rebuild before applying the next batch of tablestats. Rundown: - Replacing Toughness and Fast Learner with Extra Discovery (Preserve Organs) x2. - Replacing the Tusked race trait with the Careful Combatant combat trait. - Taking 1 rank of Craft (alchemy), 1 rank of Heal, and 1 rank of Intimidate, and putting the 3 ranks into Craft (painting). All players gain 7000 xp and 6500 gp. Players obtained a medallion of Bahamut granting them a +1 to attack and damage in the arena. As part of his loot, Renzik gained: [300 gp] potion/oil of resist energy, fire (CL 3) [300 gp] potion/oil of resist energy, electricity (CL 3) New totals: 18,080 xp, 16,530 gp, 5 downtime days. bladeandbow.boards.net/thread/5585/rat-barbecueEran, Levy, Lobos and Renzik gain each 16,000 xp and 13,000gp. Everybody gets 5 dt. The party entered the island of the dread lord. Upon arrival, they beat the welcoming gift, a dragon. They left him unconscious and dragged him into a magic circle close to the encampment where they also found a treant who was pacified and named sapling by levy after a short chase. They use sapling to interrogate the dragon and find out about the unquestioned ruler and challenge him by Renzik having a loose tongue at the wrong time. In the dream of Renzik, the party gets the chance to fix their mistake by finding an artifact and dealing correctly with it. This is not what happens because they enter while being on the way to the ruins a tower which is used by his wife and slaughter its inhabitants. Renzik does some training to apply his marvellous mind in a more defensive and offensive manner. (Retraining Craft Construct into the Kung Fu Genius feat, listed below; this takes 5 days and costs (5 x 8 x 10 =) 400 gp.) New totals: 50,000 xp, 19,516 gp, and 1 downtime day. He also pays for Yzma to train her ability to act on the move (retraining Power Attack into Flyby Attack, costing 600 gp) and purchases an efficient quiver for her for 1,800 gp. With one part of his grand archive finished, Renzik seeks to start on another. Magic Schools time. Renzik decides to do a spot of postgraduate studies in exotic locations. He is going to go ahead and join a guild, in order to gain the following benefit (detailed on Inner Sea Magic, page 22): Eclectic Training (5 Fame): Guilds often require members to master and train in different subjects. When your Fame score in a guild reaches 5, choose one spellcasting class you have at least 1 level in—you increase your effective caster level in that class (including the number of spells you know and can cast per day) by +1, to a maximum caster level equal to your total Hit Dice. Single-classed spellcasters should still pick a class to which this bonus applies, since this bonus is retroactive. As well as: Esoteric Training (35 Fame): The bonus to caster level you gain from Eclectic Training increases to +3 (but is still limited by your total Hit Dice). You may select a second spellcasting class to gain a +1 bonus to effective caster level. We'll also be gaining the in-between benefit, but that's really entirely tangential and doesn't actually do anything for us. Renzik chooses to study at the Oenopion Fleshforges of Nex. He pays the entrance fee of 200 gp, and aces the DC 15 Craft (alchemy) check required for the entrance exam with a take 10 of 20. He focuses on studying to expand his knowledge bases and improve his magical ability. With a take 10 of 35 on Knowledge (arcana), he is more than capable of excelling at his studies, handily beating the DC of [15+8 =] 23; thus he can safely pay the 100 gp of tuition fees for each semester he studies. Because he would rather not risk damage to himself, he must spend 35 semesters in order to gain the required Fame, 1 semester at a time, for the benefits we're aiming for. His education to get to this point thus costs 3,500 gp in addition to the 200 gp entrance fee. Sometime during this 18 years, he gets himself a cyclic reincarnation, and the subsequent vials of dragonblood to rid himself of negative levels, for 6,020 gp, to keep himself young and spry. He ends up at his normal physical age of 21 again (because why not, really). With his esoteric training, Renzik increases his investigator caster level by +3 (bringing it to a total effective casting level of 8, and allowing him to know and cast 3rd level spells!); the second benefit will probably have to be moot, since I doubt Renzik's going to take any levels in any other spellcasting classes. This does mean that his magical knack trait is now effectively useless. That will have to be fixed Soon. Can't forget the cost of actually getting to and from Nex, of course. 450 gp to get there, and 450 gp to return to Ar'Vahl once his study period is over. New total: 4,906 gp.
