Adventures in the Curchain Hills

Four intrepid adventurers were hired to go into the wilderness north of Dweomerstar past the Keep on the Borderlands. It seems that the trade route north into Irrisen and the Realm of the Mammoth Lords was blocked by bandits demanding tolls from the trade caravans along with stealing from the local communities. So off they went on the long journey into the Curchain Hills. They encountered some peasants on a bridge who turned out to be brigands. The ambush was sprang, but the party quickly broke the ambush and caused the brigands to flee for reinforcements. Those reinforcements turned out to be an ettin and his dire bear companion. The fight was brutal with two front line fighters being hammered into the ground while brigand archers poured a murderous fire into the party. The judicious use of hero points kept them going along with a couple of well placed critical hits. The flow of healing energy from a cleric really came in handy. (I have to say this was a great case of a party working together to survive!)
The party came out successful, but was not able to explore the wilderness due to their exhaustion from such a harrowing set of encounters. So more is out there waiting to be discovered.

Kyomi, Harkness, Kilgul, and Relmanthia each received 4100 xp, 5 downtime days, and 3600 gp. Kyomi and Harkness spent a hero point apiece which gave the party another 3400 gp or 850 gp each for a grand total of 4450 gp per adventurer.
